I am a recent graduate of the Fashion, Body, and Garment master’s degree program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Previously I was educated at Tillskärarakademin in Gothenburg Sweden, and University of New Orleans in New Orleans LA USA. My background in geology and philosophy combined with influence of the environments in which I find myself dictate the direction of my work. I am both an immigrant in my chosen home and an outsider in my homeland.
The constant adaptations of self to new environments, focus on clarifying emotional response, and presenting essence of concept encompass my working philosophy. The body as conduit of experience of the world in response to the dialectic nature of reality, the fluidity of identity and place, all play strongly in my work. I explore garment through non-traditional materials such as manipulated textiles, concrete, steel, found objects, among others by way of performance, installation, and interactive garments.
